I had the pleasure today of walking a beautiful slate and tile labyrinth on a college campus. There was a young couple walking with me. They had probably taken a few moments to walk the labyrinth between classes. Their presence gave a certain youthful energy to my walk. It was a dark and rainy day. The energy of the space and of the youthful community was a special treat and gift. When the young couple reached the center they held a long embrace and kiss. It was so sweet and tender. Then they rushed off to their classes without having the time to walk the path back out from the center. They only stole a quiet moment.
I wonder if there are times that we do not seek quiet and stillness because we think we do not have the time? I want to remember that it doesn’t take very much time at all to steal a quiet moment.
