One step at a time

I walked the labyrinth yesterday in the cold.  My hooded jacket was drawn tight around my face.  I was mostly looking down.  I was looking mostly at my feet.  I was being directed to notice my steps.  The only step that became important was the one I was currently taking.

This step is the current step, now this step is the current step, and so on.

It is true across so many traditions of spirituality that the current moment is the only real moment.  It is so easy to worry about the future or to replay scenarios from the past.  This very, very present moment is the real moment.

Let me remember throughout my day that this very moment is the real moment.
